Illustrative work continue, where my work sits wiith all three artists.
My work is inspired by three artists whom I have carried out research on for example, Issabelle de Borchgrove, fashion designer and painter, Issey Miyake, fashion designer and Hussian Chalayan, fashion designer, sculptor, film-maker and animator. My work as a fashion designer and artist is similar to all three artists and sits somewhere in between the middle of all three artist work. However, we all work differently for example; the equipment I use is a laser cutting, a domestic sewing machine and fabric glue. The material I use is in my work is paper and fabric. Although my garment is designed as a formal fashion garment it is made from paper and can be seen as a piece of art work because it is intend to be placed in an art gallery or a museum. This garment is also seen as a sculpture because it is unwearable; and will not be worn by anyone; it is also seen as a piece of craft because of the material it is made from. The idea of describing this piece of work can be very difficult because it cannot be interpret as a single article. On one hand it is designed as a fashion garment, on the other hand it is a piece of art and in between it is a sculpture and a piece of craft, hanging in a room where viewers can walk around it and give their opinions of what their interpretations are of this piece of work is.
